I just wanted to pass on a wonderful website that I am using in our househunting search. It's called Family Watchdog. If you put in an address, the website will produce a map detailing the registered sex offenders in that specified area.
I know of a time - not too long ago, I might add - that I was convinced I was invincible. I could handle myself and considered myself pretty streetsmart and even worldly. It's amazing how things can change suddenly... I am ever vigilant now. Not just for myself, but my family as well. I am pretty sure that if ever called for, I could muster the strength of five mother grizzly bears to protect my cubs. But why let it come to that?
I beseech everyone to just check their neighborhoods out. Especially those friends and families of ours with babies and kids. Know who your neighbors are. I'm aware that you can't shield yourself from all the dangers of this crazy world that seems to get crazier and more violent by the day, but (as GI Joe always used to say) knowing is half the battle.
