Baby Baby Bo Baby, Banana Fana Fo Faby, Mi My Mo Maby... Baby. Okay - we're ready for suggestions! We've still got 121 days, but we'd like to start calling our little girl something a little more feminine than La Bean.
We've discussed Ava Lynn or Ava Mae - after my Memaw, Ruby Mae. Ryan still likes Morgan too. I like Sophie or Brooke. I had said Brooke Elizabeth at one point and Ryan looked at me like I had 3 dozen heads. "We are not," he said, "having a girl with the initials BED." Point taken. I told him I wanted to name her Delilah so I could sing that song "Hey There Delilah" to her all the time. It's become a favorite of mine. He said that was a great idea and we might as well make her middle name Daisy while we were at it.
My name came from Romper Room - so no great history there. Well, except that Romper Room hasn't been seen on television for seemingly decades. In school, I always hated my name since there were more boys with that name than girls. I didn't mind Melissa so much and for a fleeting period, tried to get people to call me that but it never stuck.
So as I said, we're open to suggestions. We had a lot easier time naming Riley William. We were actually watching a movie - National Treasure. There was a character in it who was so funny and quite sarcastic named Riley. I said I liked the name and the more we watched the movie and saw the dry humor of the character develop, the more we thought it the perfect name. Between Ryan and me, our children will be at the principal's office once a week and we'll probably be on a first name basis. I've no doubt that Riley - and everyone else - will inherit our senses of humor. Oh boy are they in trouble!!! William was obviously for my father and a great uncle of mine. It wasn't until after Riley was born that we found out that Riley is actually a family name on my side.
In the meantime, for La Bean I find myself watching the credits of the shows we watch or looking at bylines when I read the news. So - give us your suggestions and don't be shy about it. You don't really want us to name her Delilah Daisy Diehlman, do you??!!
