126 Days to Go - And I Am Counting

The grow must go on! No wonder you’re getting so big, you’re now housing a wonder-baby who weighs nearly a pound and measures nearly a foot in length. Your uterus is about 2 cm above your bellybutton and you probably feel comfortably pregnant. Their perfect little pancreas is now further developed and they’ve also started producing their own hormones! Your baby's future in the circus as a world-famous tight-rope-walker is secure: their inner ear is now developed to the point that they have their own sense of balance. Lucky for your little explorer, balance also promotes physical dexterity, which has them actively feeling out their surroundings where skin, body parts, and the resident umbilical cord are the big sensory experiences. Your foot-long baby, is looking a bit like an oversized raisin right now as more and more wrinkles are showing up each week. Not to worry, all that excessive wrinkling is just their skin’s way of planning ahead for the time when they’ll start piling on that irresistible baby chub.

Comfortably pregnant??? I've never heard of such a term. I'm pretty sure they meant to say UNcomfortably pregnant. It must have been a typo. My belly seems bigger this time around, but the rest of me is slightly smaller than it was at this point last time. We'll see on Tuesday. Ryan surprised me by asking if we should go ahead and rename the blog to just BEAN because, after all, it might be a boy. I told him we would know soon enough and I was going to leave it as it.

I am getting bigger though. Hopefully obviously pregnant now rather than "she-hasn't-lost-any-baby-weight-and-still-has-to-wear-maternity-clothes." I've been short of breath pretty frequently which is something new. I also think my belly looks quite different than last time. La Bean is so very active that she now wakes me up at night on a regular basis, but is still also quite present during the day. I'm so excited about next Tuesday! Ryan is going to have to sneak out of a training class, but he's assured me he wouldn't miss "the unveiling" for the world. I know we'll have the pictures posted Tuesday afternoon along with an update.

I'm going to blow up Best Buy soon if we don't get Riley's camera back to update his site. He's getting more and more hilarious. Last weekend, Ryan taught him how to bounce and dance. Now whenever he hears music on the TV, he stops what he's doing and starts bouncing like crazy. It's too cute! He's loved that he's found a new way to move. He's also started standing by himself. He'll be holding on to something and then just let go and stand unassisted for a few seconds before slowly lowering himself to the floor. He really is quite strong for a little fellow!

He camped out on Thursday so Ryan and I could go watch UK embarrass themselves. But there's always next week! Hopefully LSU will stomp Florida today. That would be a good thing. I've also jumped on the bandwagon of (one of) my alma mattar's. Yep - University of Cincinnati is undefeated and I'm really looking forward to tonight's game. I don't know why I've become College Football Superfan this season. On Saturdays when we're home, my laptop is always the ESPN Scoreboard. I think it's the best website I've ever seen. I'm constantly checking scores and looking at recaps of games. Poor Ryan if he tries to watch a movie on Saturday afternoon through Saturday night. I'll interject with, "Did you know that So and So is playing This Team on Channel Fill In The Blank?" You might say I've become obsessed. However, while a true College Football Superfan can tell you all sorts of stats about each player, like their rushing yards, how many touchdowns they've had, how many blocks they've had, where they went to high school, their mother's maiden name, etc., I can maybe tell you what team a certain player is on. And I'm not that good at retaining the information I so greedily absorb on Game Day. Another scary thing is I've already started poking around the college basketball site on ESPN.

But, I'm sure Riley enjoyed his campout with Memaw and Grandad - which is actually where I intended to go before my football tangent. He came back from their house yesterday morning with a new trick. Memaw had taught him how to do "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" with his hands. It really is cute. Then she stayed and helped me get things ready to show the condo. I think we're going to have an open house tomorrow. I really would like to get this place sold soon. 126 days seems like forever and right around the corner. I'm very excited to meet our new addition!

The next update we'll probably be asking for name suggestions!! We'll keep you posted.
