100 Days Til La Bean

(To the tune of 100 Bottles of Beer) 100 days til La Bean will arrive, 100 days til the bean… The sun goes down, the belly gets round. 99 days til La Bean will arrive, 99 days til the bean…

I’m sure they will be a hectic 100 days too! We’re going to kick them off by taking a 9 or so hour roadtrip down South to see some of my relatives. I’ll be seeing some cousins that I haven’t seen in literally over a decade. I hope Riley will do well and enjoy the trip. We’re splitting it up into two chunks so hopefully that will help. I think that’s why I woke up so early this morning; just thinking about everything I need to pack and things I don’t want to forget. We’ll see how well I do packing for Riley. I’m sure I’ll wish we had a trailer by the time all is said and done!

Last night, Riley had his first Halloween adventure. I think he really enjoyed it. We took him to Memaw and Grandad’s for the experience. Of course they had a whole bucketful of loot for him, including his favorite snack – Puffs. But his very first trick-or-treat house belonged to a good friend of the family’s, Janet. She had gotten him some animal crackers and he dug a bag out of his Halloween pumpkin while we were there so we opened it. Animal crackers are officially NUM. (I’ll have to get some video of him eating. He cracks us up, saying NUM about 50 times while I’m getting it ready.) We hit about 6 or 7 houses then went back and helped pass out candy. I think he enjoyed watching the other kids too. There was a little girl in a poodle outfit who he was smitten by and it appeared that she was equally smitten. They stared at each other for the longest time. When we loaded him up to come home, he fell asleep in the car and didn’t even wake up when I changed his PJ’s. He played very hard today!

Bean is playing very hard in her little world too. She is still super active. My belly, and the rest of me, seems ginormous. I don’t remember my belly being quite this big with Riley at this stage. We go for our checkup when we get back from our trip so we’ll see what the doc says. We’ll see how she does on the roadtrip too. When I was just 5 months pregnant with Riley, Ryan and I took a trip out to the East Coast. It’s probably the easiest way to travel with babies….while they’re still in the belly!

I don’t know if we’re any closer to a name or not. We both still throw out new names every once in a while to see what kind of reaction the new choice draws. Ryan’s latest “throw out name” has been Christine. Mine was Kendall. Yep, we’re still searching. He says he’s pretty set on Hannah, but I hope I can change his mind. I knew a girl in middle school named Hannah and she was a very odd bird. I just can’t get past relating that name to her. I still like Brooke a whole lot. (Hannah Brooke?) But, we still have time. I’m still thinking that we may not have her name until she makes her debut.

Well, I’ve got about an hour before Riley gets up and turns his light on. Hopefully La Bean will settle down and rest for a little while too.
