I took the gestational diabetes test this morning. I had dropped Riley off at Memaw and Grandad's so he could play instead of being stuck in the doctor's office with me. With this test, they make you fast after midnight and then you drink this glucose drink which, as I've said before, tastes like Orange Gatorade with double the sugar and five times the corn syrup. I had forgotten how bad it was. Anyway, they give you 5 minutes to down this 10 ounce (or maybe it's just 6) bottle. After that, you wait for an hour then they draw your blood then you can go eat. So I guess if there's anything wrong the doctor will call me.
I went to pick Riley up and he was just dozing off for a nap. I could see the aftermath of his playing all over the family room - toys were scattered everywhere. Afterwards, Memaw, Riley and I went to the Olive Garden for some lunch then to Costco for some pre-Thanksgiving shopping. It really was such a good afternoon. I love days like that with my mom.
I think we're all finally recovered from the trip. I'm still a little bit tired, but I have a feeling I'm going to stay tired for a while. But it was so good to see everyone down there. Riley really enjoyed playing with his cousins and we really only had one "bad" night with him. Riley woke up around 1 a.m. and was not happy on that Friday night. I was going to change him, so I had to put him in the bed with Ryan while I got his stuff ready.
He crawled over to Ryan and laid his head down on his chest and immediately stopped crying. Riley looked at me, yawned, closed his eyes and settled in. Ryan said to just leave him so he slept for the very first time in the big bed with us. He slept very well, but I lay awake most all night, fearful of rolling over onto Riley or making sure he wasn't near the pillows or avoiding his baby kicks as he tossed and turned into new positions. He got up very early with a big grin on his face and started talking. It was pretty cute! We went downstairs to get some breakfast. Grandad joined us a little later and it was going between me and him that Riley took his first three unassisted steps. He hasn't taken anymore lately, but I know it will be very soon!
I can't wait to see what he does with Bean - who is now much bigger than a bean. I think she is going to be a very big baby. It seems as if I can already feel her weight in my belly and we still have 3 months to go. Tomorrow marks the beginning of the third trimester. It's going to fly by. Thanksgiving is in a week and a half. The first weekend in December is Christmas Tree day. Then we'll have Bean's doctor's appointment. That will be the first of the bimonthly appointments. Riley gets the second half of his flu shot in the beginning of December, then his year check up at the end. We'll have his birthday, then Christmas, then New Year's. After all that, we'll have January to breathe then comes the Bean! Whew!!
Bean is awake now, making my belly jump and shake. Hopefully she'll settle down in a little while so I can too.
