I'm starting to feel La Bean make her presence known. The other day when Riley and I were at the Kroger's, I really felt pregnant. Riley's newest - and most favorite - game is "I've Discovered Gravity, but Someone Can Fix It". The rules of this game are very simple. Riley will take an object - i.e. a toy, my phone, his bottle, anything he can get his hands on - and drop/throw it onto the floor from his highchair or, in this case, the shopping cart. He will then lean over the edge of his perched seat and stare at the object before shifting his gaze to me with that pleading look in his eyes. I've got on the average of 10 seconds to pick it up before he lets me know that I'm not following the rules. Then we repeat this process a minimum of 100 times.Usually, I really don't mind. If we're out at dinner, I make sure I'm on his right side since this seems to be his throwing arm. My patience for this game lasts only slightly longer than Ryan's. But at the grocery store it was quite a different story. I was stopping every few seconds to bend over to retrieve his toy from fully standing instead of just reaching over from a sitting position when we're at dinner. Bending all the way over I could really feel La Bean - more and more each time I picked up his toy! I had to cut the game short, much to my son's dismay but I think La Bean appreciated not being smushed.
Ryan was very cute this morning as he rubbed my emerging "Bhudda Belly" and asked how she was doing. I know he'll be relieved when find a bigger place and get settled in - even if we're only settled for a little while. We're both hoping for opportunities outside of Louisville that may present themselves a year or two in the future.
La Bean is almost halfway done! Riley will be 8 months old on Friday! I know I sound like a broken record, but time really is flying. Pretty soon, we'll be trying to decide what Riley will wear for his first Halloween, what to eat for Thanksgiving Dinner (my folks always make gumbo, so this year I'm thinking that I'll make Ryan a turkey - he got steak last year), planning a birthday party, having a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, planning a baby shower, and then a new baby! And somewhere in there, we need to find a house... Yeah, things are a little busy.
Riley went to play with his Cousin Gus over the weekend and as I tried to hold both of them at the same time, I was thinking that I was in major trouble! I know Gus and Riley are only about 5 weeks apart and he and La Bean will be about 13 months apart, but it's still going to be quite a challenge. Ryan keeps joking (at least I hope he is) about trying to potty train Riley before La Bean is born so we only have one in diapers. He is so funny!
So while our plates may be pretty full, neither one of us would change a thing.
