16 weeks and all is well. Well, almost all is well. We are firing our doctor. Although, I do wish we could keep our doctor and fire his office staff. Our original appointment was yesterday. They called and asked us to get there as soon as we could since Dr. Farmer had a patient in labor. So about 10 minutes later, we all three were out the door and flying to his office. We walked in and the receptionist told us he had just left. So - that's one morning down the tubes.
We had planned to play golf this morning. Ryan has a cart for his clubs and I was just going to take Riley in his jogging stroller so we could walk with Ryan while he played. Then we were going to take Riley to the aquarium in Newport. Afterwards, we were going to drop Riley off at his grandparents and find somewhere to watch the U of L game tonight and make an evening of it. Well - as much of an evening as a four month pregnant lady can.
It turns out we had to scrap our morning golf plans to get to our make-up appointment. So we all headed to the doctor's again this morning only to wait over an hour (there goes the Cincinnati trip) to see the nurse practitioner. Last time, I really liked her, but this time she seemed to have regressed a few years. She's young to begin with, but had I gotten a dollar for every time she said "awesome" in our three minute visit, I could have bought Ryan and me dinner at Antoine's in New Orleans and still have plenty of money left over for a nightcap.
So, needless to say, neither Ryan or I was impressed. We called Stephanie and asked for her doctor's name and number. She has always raved about him and agreed that our typical wait time at my doctors of 30 - 45 minutes is ridiculous. To make a long story short, we have another doctor's appointment with my new doctor next Tuesday the 11th. That will be at 18 weeks and odds are he'll order an ultrasound for week 20 so we'll be able to see if we're correct in our use of the feminine pronouns.
Riley is still spending the night with his grandparents tonight. Maybe just Ryan and I will play golf tomorrow morning. That might be easier anyway. But I do think we're going to make the aquarium trip tomorrow.
But all in all, things are going great. I'm actually three pounds lighter now than I was with Riley at 16 weeks. Ryan heard the heartbeat of his La Bean today and grinned from ear to ear. I haven't had any more pains at all. My knees are a little stiff, but I've decided that when Ryan goes back to work from vacation, I'm just going to wake up a little before 6 in the mornings like I used to and walk. By the time I'm done, it'll be time to get the guys up and make breakfast then my workout for the day will be done.
Riley is loving having Dad home this week. Today, Ryan went to take a shower and Riley threw a fit, crawled to the bathroom door - golf club in hand - and started beating the bathroom door. Apparently, he didn't want Mom at all. He's so funny though. Yesterday morning, I heard Riley playing in his crib on the monitor. That's my cue that I've got about ten minutes to get up, brush my teeth, and get Riley before his playing turns to unhappy wails. So, I was walking down the hall to his room and could see that he had already turned his light on. I opened his door and sure enough he was standing in the corner of his crib by the light switch with a huge morning grin on his face.
I picked him up and laid him down on the changing table to put a clean diaper on. When I looked down, however, I discovered that he had already taken his diaper off and it was wadded up in the corner of his crib. I'm SO glad it was just a wet one and not a stinky one!!! Hopefully that's a trick he'll keep to himself and not try and teach that to La Bean!
We're glad La Bean is doing so well and will definitely keep everyone posted about the new doctor!
